WAIST 3.5 includes written and visual commissioned works by Greta van der Star, Ophelia Mikkelson Jones, Elisha Kennedy and Annika Hein. This publication is a tangential idea - a personal ode to the beauty of Accident, Improvisation and The Unconscious. 3.5 utilises dance as a tool, not for performance but for wellbeing. Created over four separate studio workshops, 3.5 explores primal stimuli and gut intuition through a language of movement and physical responses. A set of tasks that aid in tracking down the spirit igniting the impulse were explored both personally, and also as a group, to bring a narrative that I didn’t write. WAIST considers the ideas surrounding the female mid-section, both inside and out, exploring sex, movement, digestion and a woman’s GUT INSTINCT.
