Christina Bolt is a ceramic artist living and working in Hudson, NY. Inspired by the natural beauty and phenomena of the real world as well as the fantastical of a world imagined, Bolt’s work evokes the playful dreamlike nature of the artist herself. Bolt begins with conceptualizing her work on paper, through drawing. The designs then are manifested spontaneously, and the actual construction of the pieces remain intuitive. The quality of craftsmanship is evident in the delicate handling of the material and her skillful application of glazes, built up over time, resulting from multiple firings for a dynamic palette of textures. Bolt likens her devotion to the ceramic process to an obsession. “The expressive nature of clay, it's immediate hand-eye connection, the infinite investigation of glaze formulation makes ceramics the ideal medium for my creative practice”. Bolt studied at the Tyler School of Art, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in ceramics.
Dimensions are: 7.5 H x 7 W x 4.5 D inches. Composition is: Porcelain, glaze, resin, brass
