This top features balloon sleeves and unique in-house holm print. Lightweight fabric feels and looks like silk but made using a unique polyester fabrication to ensure the pleats and dyes are optimized. Sculptural in structure the pleats are tuned to create rounded sleeves for a dramatic look. All items made by hand individually, ensuring a unique piece. Hand pleating technique uses Shibori creating a beautiful irregularity.
Julia Heuer is the eccentric master of a Japanese tie-dying technique called Arashi Shibori. Delicate fabrics that have been pleated and crushed find a new form in unusual cut combinations of timeless understated elegance and lavish playfulness. The combination of unique patterns and handmade plissee creates a look that cannot be replicated. She gives this ancient technique a contemporary and bold makeover that delights with sensuous colors and a brash mix of patterns. Before launching her eponymous fashion line, she was the Head of Print Design for renown textile company Jakob Schlaepfer. During her tenure she created unique prints for various fashion houses such as Christian Dior, Comme des Garcons, Calvin Klein and others. Most recently, Heuer was awarded the prestigious Swiss Design Prize in 2016 for her collection Adobe Indigo.
